Sapphire Visit to Chiddingstone Castle

5th May 2017

To support the children’s learning across the curriculum, Sapphire Class visited Chiddingstone Castle to see first-hand Ancient Egyptian artefacts, exploring everyday objects used in the home from pillows to cooking utensils.

During the day all pupils delighted in trying on traditional Egyptian dress, investigating the techniques used in mummification and even decoded the hieroglyphics on an Ancient Egyptian Sarcophagus (coffin). Excitedly, Sapphire Class returned to school and used their newly-acquired knowledge to recount their trip and begin to document their understanding of life in Ancient Egypt.
