WELCOME TO YEAR R

We have so much fantastic learning happening in our class in Term 3 and Year 4 that we would love to share with you.

Our topic this term is Why Am I a Superhero?

Communication and Language: We are working on further developing our understanding and use of vocabulary. We will use the ideas of superheroes to begin this, thinking about what makes a hero, a villain and their qualities to be these characters.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development: We are continuing to develop our understanding of a range of emotions and why we might feel some of these. We also are working on our self-care and being able to manage our own clothes including zips and gloves.

Physical Development: We are starting to work with Mr. Heath for our PE on Thursdays where we will develop a range of skills to enable us to take part in team games. We also have our outdoor learning opportunities daily, please do remember to send in coats and suitable outdoor clothing to support these.

Maths: in Maths we are furthering our understanding of numbers, thinking about the composition of numbers to 10 and furthering our mathematical vocabulary around this for example, more, less, equal.

Literacy: we are continuing to develop our phonic knowledge and using this to be able to read short words and phrases, as well as beginning to be able to write these. We are also going to be exploring a range of texts to support our topic such as Juniper Jupiter.

Understanding the World: We are exploring the world around us, including the changes the different weather brings us. For example, our outdoor ice explorations where we are trying to learn about the things which can be frozen. Within this area of learning we also have our RE learning where we are going to be thinking about Being Special: Where Do We Belong? which will allow us to think about concepts such as identity, belonging and community.

Expressive Arts and Design: We are using a range of media to share our ideas and representations for example, painting with watercolours, using chalks as well as using  resources to build small world areas to help us with our role play as we further explore the superheroes and villains.
