WELCOME TO YEAR 1

We are excited to share what we are learning in Term 3 and Term 4. Check back regularly for updates, photos, and important information. 

English

This term we will be reading ‘Snail and the Whale’ by Julia Donaldson and we will be writing setting descriptions and postcards from the perspective of one of the characters.

Maths

We begin the term with place value to 20 and linking this learning to addition and subtraction. We will then move on to place value within 50.  

Science

This term we are looking at animals including humans and thinking about what animals eat and how we can group them. We will also study what changes occur between Autumn and Winter in our season’s unit of work.  

Topic (History/Geography)

We move to travelling between UK and Australia, comparing both human and physical geography. 

Art/DT

We will be focusing on landscapes, both countryside and cities, then a moving toy for DT 

PE 

Will be on a Monday/Tuesday and Thursday this term. We will be doing yoga and football 

RE 

We will be looking at Hinduism in Term 3 before moving onto Salvation in Term 4.

Homework 

A homework grid will be sent out which links to our learning. If the children complete any of these tasks, we would love for you to send them into school so they can be shared with us. We will also continue working on our number bonds practice.
